ENGLISH 10~
Today we worked on our in-class post-it note essays. Students will need to complete one essay that they picked ahead of time and the other will be randomly assigned in class. ALL ESSAYS MUST BE COMPLETED IN CLASS! DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP~ Today we did a review of website progress. Students created final checklists of what is done and what needs to be completed on the website. On Monday we will finish presenting any teaching/learning activities that are not currently completed. ENGLISH 10~
Today we took the TKM Final test. The test took the whole block. Anyone who did not finish will be allowed to finish tomorrow. DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP~ We presented our YouTube Teaching Videos. ENGLISH 10~
Tomorrow is the big day for our TKM Final!!!! We spent today preparing for the test tomorrow. I have posted a great deal of review for the test tomorrow on the Mockingbird section of the English 10 webpage. Please visit the information and think about everything we have learned in class. 3 character wheels will be due with the test tomorrow. DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP~ We spent the block presenting our Learning Videos for YouTube. Please post your videos to your YouTube account at some point before next week. ENGLISH 10~
Last night students were to use their "forensic homework" that recreated the scene of the attack in TKM to determine what actually happened. We started class with a short quiz covering the final chapters of the book up to Ch. 31. We then read the final chapter together as a class and had a discussion about what actually happened. We then spent a little time talking about the book as a whole (we will have a longer discussion tomorrow). We finished watching the TKM documentary and will be reviewing all day tomorrow. The final test will take place on Thursday. DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP~ Today was our final work day for our YouTube teaching and learning projects. We also took a short quiz on identity theft terms. We ended class by going to the lab to create a YouTube page for our weebly sites. Remember, tomorrow all students should have the teaching and learning videos completed and everyone should have a YouTube account set up. We will begin presenting our learning projects tomorrow. Today we took a short quiz on chapters 24-27 of TKM. We then had a short discussion of the reading and the significance of the The Missionary Circle and we also went back and had a discussion about the mad dog scene in that things aren't always as they appear to be. We read chapter 28 aloud in class. For homework, students were asked to play the role of CSI and create a forensic picture or journal entry of the crime that took place. This will be important to have in reading chapters 29 & 30 for tomorrow. DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP~ Today we continued working on our learning and teaching projects. Students checked in scripts and then finished working on intros and conclusions for videos. Videos will be due in class tomorrow. We will be having a quiz tomorrow on ENGLISH 10~
Today we went to the computer lab after a short reading quiz and spent some time learning about the science behind race at www.pbs.org/race. We also took a look at the Harvard University Racism test called Project Implicit. Both of these websites will be important to visit as information from both will be on the final test. DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP~ Today was a work day to complete the learning activity for YouTube. We also introduced the teaching project. Please bring any materials you need to tape your video for Monday. We will be writing scripts in class on Monday. ENGLISH 10~
We began watching the first part of the TKM video and watched part of a documentary on TKM. We also had a lengthy discussion about the trial scene and the verdict. DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP~ Today we began working on our YouTube lesson. Students had time to work on learning a task from YouTube. Students will have several days to practice before we demonstrate in front of the class. ENGLISH 10~
Today we set up the class as a courtroom and read Chapters 17 & 18 of To Kill a Mockingbird. We then wrote a short response to the trial scene and how it relates to the Scottsborro Trials. DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP~ Today we continued learning about Identity Theft terms. Students created flashcards for various terms. We will have a quiz on these terms later next week. We then had some time to work on websites. ENGLISH 10~
Today we answered the study guide questions for the reading over break and had a brief discussion. We then had reading time for the the reading assignment tomorrow. We will be completing the courtroom scene in class tomorrow. DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP~ Today we spent time learning about Identity Theft. Students divided into groups to read through personal stories and news articles on Identity Theft. Groups created a poster with a summary of the articles and tips to avoiding Identity Theft. |
