Honors~
Students continued looking for information on the banned books paper.  When I return tomorrow we will be going over a more detailed process for the research timeline.

English 10~
Students should continue editing papers today.  We will have tomorrow to review changes or ask questions and the final paper will be due in class on Wednesday.  At that time I will be providing information for turnitin.com.

Honors~
Student used the shorter block period to begin finding research on the banned book.  All banned books should be read at this point.

English 10~
Students will begin working on editing the papers.  The editing sheets are posted on the research page.  Please complete one of each of the editing sheets to turn in with the final paper.  You will have additional time to edit the papers on Monday.

Honors~
We finished the end of MacBeth and took the final Shakespeare Test.  Please bring materials with tomorrow to begin finding information for the banned books research paper.  We will be discussing more information about the paper on Monday.  I will be gone at a conference on today and tomorrow.

English 10~
Today students should finish writing the rough draft of the paper.  Rough drafts will be due at the beginning of the block tomorrow so that we can begin the editing process. Students continued to check in items such as bibliographies, outlines, notecards, and to show progress

Honors~
We continued working on the MacBeth movie.  Students should be looking for any spots in the play where they need clarification.

English 10~
We discussed proper formatting for bibliographies today by looking in the 10th grade textbook.  Be sure that your bib matches the examples we looked at in class.  Students began conferencing with me to check in items such as bibliographies, outlines, notecards, and to show progress on the final paper.

Honors~
Today we began working on the MacBeth movie.  We stopped the movie on a regular basis to discuss what was happening and also to discuss important plot details and quotes.  The MacBeth version is from 2010 and stars Patrick Stewart.  The movie can be watched for free on PBS.  A link is provided on the Shakespeare page.

ENGLISH 10~
Today we reviewed the proper way to create and use MLA citations in the paper.  Students should review the handout posted on the website and then continue to ask questions as needed.

HONORS~
We completed the session 18 test today and worked on session 23 as homework.  We will be working on MacBeth tomorrow.

ENGLISH 10~
Students began conferencing today and checked in notecards, bibs, outlines, and provided a paper progress check.  We will continue working on the papers this week.  Rough drafts are due on Thursday at the start of class so we can begin the editing process.

HONORS~
Today we finished up Much Ado, completed session 22 in the Word Power book. We will be completing the Session 18 test on Monday.  We then took notes and discussed the plot of MacBeth.  We spent time working on looking information that will be used as background for watching the play. 

ENGLISH 10~
Students continued working on writing body paragraphs of the research paper.  Notecards, bibs, outlines, and a progress check of the paper will be due on Monday.  We will be completing rough drafts towards the middle of the next week and then work on editing.

HONORS~
Today we began work on Shakespeare's MacBeth.  Students researched some of the background information for the play and then we had a brief discussion about characters and tragedies vs. comedies.  We began watching the 2010 version of MacBeth staring Patrick Stewart.  We stopped along the way to discuss and take notes.  We will be taking a test next week on MacBeth and Much Ado About Nothing.

ENGLISH 10~
With outlines finished, as a class we wrote the first page of the papers.  We constructed the papers using our outlines to write sentence by sentence for the introductions.  We then began an overview/review of how to complete MLA citations in a research paper.  Students will meet with me tomorrow to check in outlines, bibliography check, and do a final notecard count.

Day 2 of State MCA testing.  We tested during blocks 1 & 2 and then Blocks 1 & 2 had class following the test.

HONORS~
Today we focused on finishing the reading of Much Ado About Nothing.  Students read aloud and we discussed the major plot devices used by Shakespeare.  We watched the remainder of the movie and talked as a class about marriage and social status.

Tuesday, April 17th

Today was the first day of MCA State testing.  Testing took place for the first two blocks of the morning and then we had blocks 3 & 4 in the afternoon.

HONORS~
Did not meet today.

ENGLISH 10~
As a class we reviewed the sample papers that are posted on the webpage.  We talked about what made each paper good/bad and then compared the papers to the outlines that we are currently working on.  Students then had the rest of the block to finish working on outlines.  Outlines will be due in class on Thursday.
