For your final project, you will be creating your very own
website from which you will need to maintain and update for the
future.You will need to think
about what we have discussed so far in class about keeping a positive digital
footprint etc.
Your page needs to take safety into consideration, but you
also want to create a footprint that is positive for yourself. Please use the criteria below to
develop your very own webpage. Please DO NOT publish your website until given permission from Mr.
Burklund.
Use www.weebly.com to
sign up for a free account. Please
note: your websites are being created under your name and therefore you are
agreeing the terms of service.
*****************************Your webpage must include: *******************************************************
1.A homepage that welcomes visitors to your site
and describes the purpose of your website and what a visitor might expect to
find in the coming pages. You can
choose to put a biography of yourself on this page or create a separate “About
Me” page.Any information about
you should be general and not contribute in any way to compromising your data
privacy or personal information.Remember,
part of building a positive digital footprint is actively posting content that
puts you in a positive light. You
can talk about your interests, favorite classes, foods, future plans, pets,
family (keep their information private too), and any other positive information
about yourself.
2.You will need to take/create all original
pictures for your website or find the pictures in the creative commons picture
gallery on weebly.Your pictures should be general (trees, a desk, or of something that you are talking about). At this time, you are NOT allowed to post any pictures of people.
You will need to create a new page for each of
the following:
PAGE:iPads i.You
must include a brief overview of your top 5 favorite apps on the iPad.
ii.A
brief summary of your thoughts on using an iPad in school.Do you like having an iPad?Do you think that having an iPad has
helped your learning?
PAGE:Digital Footprints i.Type
up a short introduction and explain what a digital footprint is.Use your notes that we took in class to
help someone understand digital footprints.
ii.What
are the two types of digital footprints and why does creating this webpage help
your digital footprint?
iii.What
have you done in your personal life to help clean up your digital footprint
PAGE:Online Safety i.What
is sexting and cyber bullying?
ii.Explain
the different ways in which people are at risk online.
iii.How
can someone clean up their social network profile to prevent problems online.
iv.Post
the school board policy you created on Cyber Bullying.
v.What
have you done in your personal life to become safer digital citizen?
PAGE:Copyright and Fair Use i.Why
is it important to know about Copyright and Fair Use?
ii.What
do you plan to do in the future based on what you learned about Fair Use?
iii.Post
your Keynote presentation about your Copyright Issue for the multimedia
yearbook.
Blog PAGE: You will also need to add a blog page.Your blog page is going to be used to
talk about anything that is interesting to you.You will need to have a total of 5 blog posts from different days of the week (you can't post them all on the same day).
Class PAGE(s):In addition to the pages I have listed above,
you will need to create a page for each class you are currently taking. You will need to provide a short
summary of the lessons you learned in that class and provide at least ONE
project that you can showcase from the class (keynote, iMovie, maybe a picture
of a project, etc).
Choice PAGE:You will need to create one
additional page that can be of anything you like.Perhaps you want to have a page dedicated to your dog and
all of the crazy outfits you have created for her, or maybe you have some other
YouTube videos already created and would like to showcase them on your
webpage.The choice is yours.
YouTube PAGE:
You will need to create a YouTube page and write an explanation of what
you did for the YouTube project. You should then post your inspiration
video for the learning project, your learning project video, and then
post your teaching video along with your script.
HTML TOOL:You will need to add at least 1 HTML widget to
your main page. You can add more
to your website if you would like to.
Depending on what your
YouTube PSA was on, please post the video in the appropriate
location. Also, you will need to find at least one picture to go on
each page (remember they must be original pictures).
This project is a big one and will require you to use your
time wisely. You will also need to
think about what you will do with this webpage after you leave this class.Remember, this will contribute to your
digital footprint.
For the time being, I would like you only to use your first
name and last initial.This will
make your identity safer. As you get older, you may wish to change your “First
name, Last initial” to your full name…this makes it easier to control the
content that people see about you.
You must consider your appearance to the rest of the world
with your website, and me!Proper
spelling, punctuation, and grammar are expected to be used on your
webpage.The final webpages are
due at the end of the quarter!
IMPORTANT NOTES:
You will need to provide Mr.
Burklund with the web address to your webpage before the end of the class.
This
is a school project. The more effort, creativity, and depth you put
into the project, the more your grade will reflect the hard work. These
websites should be neat and presentable and show some elements of
design and thought.
THERE SHOULD NOT BE ANY "DEAD PAGES" ON YOUR WEBSITE (empty pages without content). These pages will greatly influence your final grade.
