The Becker Speech Team will begin their 5th season during the 2011-2012 school year.  The team was founded by Coach Burklund in 2007.  The Becker Speech Team has grown each year and has had many successful participants.  Our team motto is "Speak Well and Prosper" in homage to Coach Burklund's love of Star Trek.  We aim to have fun and improve along the way.  Speech is a very fun and energetic activity. There is a place for everyone in Speech. Whether you like telling stories, acting, reading poetry, arguing, or even writing your own great masterpiece there's a category for you! See Mr. Burklund or Mr. Larson for more details on how to join and where to get started.

We're kicking off speech this year and it's going to be bigger than ever!  Sign up in Mr. Burklund's room after school or just stop by if you have questions.

Choosing your script:

Depending on which category you decide to take part in, you will either have to find a script or write your own.  The best place to start when trying to select a piece is with Mr. Burklund, the head coach, who has a surprising amount and variety of scripts laying around.  Of course you could also go online to find one, but make sure you check it out with Mr. Burklund to deal with the licensing issues.  If you are afraid of choosing one you will regret later don't worry, it isn't against the rules to switch pieces later on (though it isn't advised).

Stop by Mr. Burklund's room for more information.

Congratulations to Aubrey Lambert on becoming the first ever Becker student to place at the State Tournament!  Aubrey placed 7th at the 2011 State Tournament in aa Discussion.
