English 10 is a semester long class that focuses a on the theme of "Exploring Human Nature." We will be covering a variety of novels and writing assignments that help students understand the darker sides of humanity. Students will have weekly writing assignments, vocabulary and grammar lessons, and reading assignments in required and choice novels. In the second quarter of each semester, we will shift gears and focus heavily on the research process. The research paper is a major component of the second quarter grade and will help prepare students for more rigorous writing in upcoming years.

A variety of other literary sources will be utilized for this course including a classroom textbook. The textbook and novels will be assigned to individual students to complete work at home.
