Day 2 of State MCA testing.  We tested during blocks 1 & 2 and then Blocks 1 & 2 had class following the test.

HONORS~
Today we focused on finishing the reading of Much Ado About Nothing.  Students read aloud and we discussed the major plot devices used by Shakespeare.  We watched the remainder of the movie and talked as a class about marriage and social status.

Tuesday, April 17th

Today was the first day of MCA State testing.  Testing took place for the first two blocks of the morning and then we had blocks 3 & 4 in the afternoon.

HONORS~
Did not meet today.

ENGLISH 10~
As a class we reviewed the sample papers that are posted on the webpage.  We talked about what made each paper good/bad and then compared the papers to the outlines that we are currently working on.  Students then had the rest of the block to finish working on outlines.  Outlines will be due in class on Thursday.

HONORS~
Today we continued reading Much Ado About Nothing.  Students should take notes in the ebook on the iPad and the study guide posted to the website is optional.  We will be taking the final test for the Shakespeare unit at some point next week.  Stay tuned for details.

ENGLISH 10~
Students had the weekend to finish up researching on papers.  Today we began working on outlines for the research papers.  The outline form is posted on the webpage.  We went through the various parts of the outline and talked about how to write each part.  Students had the rest of the day to work on outlines which will be due on Thursday.  We will then be writing one full page of the papers in class on Thursday.

HONORS ENGLISH~
Students should complete sessions 19 & 20 in the Word Power books.  We will be having a test coming up soon.  The rest of the day is a reading day devoted to your banned books.  Please continue to read these books in and out of class.

ENGLISH 10~
Students will use today as the final workday on research.  We will begin outlining our papers next week on Monday.  Please try to wrap up all of your research by Monday as we will begin the writing process.

HONORS~
Today we continued reading and watching parts of Much Ado About Nothing and completed 18 in the Word Power books.  Continue to read banned books so that we can begin the research process next week.

ENGLISH 10~
Today students were to read the sample papers posted on the website.  We will be discussing these in class to talk about what the author analyzed in order to prove the points.  Also, notecards and sources will be due today.

HONORS~
Today we completed session 17 in Word Power.  We then broke into small groups to read Act II, scenes 1-3 in Much Ado.  We then spent time discussing the events as a class and watched the movie version for part of the block.

ENGLISH 10~
Students spent time learning about bibliographies today.  There were problems with easybib.com so students will turn in a bibliography and 25 notecards tomorrow during class.

Today we worked on Session 16 in the vocab book.  We spent the rest of the block reading Much Ado.

English 10~
Today we discussed bibliographies and constructing them.  Please use the resources posted on the research paper tab for specifics.

Today we took a trip to SCSU to work on our Banned Books Research Project.  Students will need to complete research on the databases.

ENGLISH 10~
Today was a research day for the Movie Research paper.  25 notecards and 5 sources are due on Wednesday.

Today we finished our Shakespeare presentations and worked on reading Much Ado About Nothing.  Students are encouraged to use the study guide, but it is optional to complete.

ENGLISH 10~
Today we discussed notetaking strategies and ways of measuring and evaluating information.  Parent letters are due today.

HONORS~
Today we completed session 15 in the vocab books.  We then began reading Much Ado About Nothing in class.  We read aloud and discussed the text.  Students should have a copy of the play downloaded to the iPad.

ENGLISH 10~
Today we went to the media center and Mrs. Lorentz presented on effective research strategies for databases and google. Please use the handouts provided to assist you in the research process.  We then used the books and printed materials on the cart to begin researching.
