Hooray for break!
ENGLISH 10~
Today we worked on reading time for the chapters before break.  Be sure to keep up with your sticky notes during the chapters.  We also had a brief discussion about the reading last night. We also read another article from the Us and Them magazine.

DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP~
Today we went to the lab to continue working on our websites.  We took a look at HTML widgets and learned how to imbed them in our webpages.  We then spent the rest of the block working on the 4 pages for Digital Citizenship.

ENGLISH 10~
Today we took a short quiz on chapters 6-8 of TKM.  We then had a short discussion of the events.  The reading assignment for tonight is to finish Part I of the book.  We will be having a classroom discussion tomorrow so be prepared with your sticky notes.  We also read an article out of the Us and Them magazine.  Each day we will be reading a different story to highlight some form of discrimination or intolerance.  The story today was called A Rose for Charlie. 

DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP~
Today we spent some time working with our digital portraits again to calculate our risks online.  We also watched a short video on Digital Footprints that follows up from the presentation we had with Mrs. Meyer yesterday.  We then ended the day by talking about hackers.

ENGLISH 10~
Today we reviewed the vocabulary words for TKM and also spent time talking about chapters 4&5 by answering some discussion questions with a partner from the study guide.  We then had a short classroom discussion about the idea of discrimination.  We will be continuing to look at the idea of intolerance and discrimination for the rest of the unit.  Chapters 6-8 in TKM are due for tomorrow.

DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP~
Today we had a special presentation from the Becker District Technology Mrs. Meyer. She presented us with information on our digital footprints.  This information will be important to know for the end of the quarter test.  We then went to the computer labs and posted our website links in the "student websites" tab link.  Anyone who was gone should see Mr. Burklund for details ASAP.

ENGLISH 10~
We took a reading quiz on chapters 1-3 of TKM and followed with an excellent discussion.  Remember to be writing sticky notes along the way!  We then watched the PBS Frontline documentary called A Class Divided.  A link to the video is on the TKM page.  Chapters 4-5 are homework for tonight.

Today we began working on our Weebly websites.

ENGLISH 10~
We spent some time today discussing pre-reading questions for TKM and the importance of thinking outside the box.  This novel will require students to try seeing things from other perspectives.  We checked in our choice novels and had a short discussion about the process.  Pre-reading and Chapters 1-3 vocabulary words should be defined for Monday.  As a class we began reading chapters 1-3.  These chapters will be due on Monday (quiz likely).

DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP~
We finished watching the movie Cyber Bully and then continued with a conversation about being anonymous online.  We completed our digital portraits and looked at 2 articles that discussed the problems with being anonymous online.

We completed our presentations and notes on TKM and then proceeded to watch part of a documentary on the Scottsboro Trials.

DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP~
We finished working on our school policies for cyber bullying and then began watching the movie Cyber Bully.

ENGLISH 10~
Today we started our To Kill a Mockingbird presentations. We will finish the rest of the presentations tomorrow.

DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP~
Today we began learning about cyber bullying in lesson 5.5.  Permission slips for the final website project were passed out and will be due by next Monday.  Everyone will be creating a website, but the permission slip will allow students to publish a website that they can continue to use after the class is over.  We will continue writing our cyber bullying school policy in class tomorrow.

ENGLISH 10~
Today we worked on our presentations.  Students will present notes tomorrow in class.  Anyone who is gone will have to come in and do the presentation on their own.

DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP~
Today we started learning about online predators in Lesson 5.2.  We discussed how the internet has made it much easier to find information and that privacy settings and common sense are the best defenses against online predators.  Predators come from all walks of life and manipulate their victims.  Be sure to visit the diduknow website for facts and figures.

ENGLISH 10~
We finished watch Freedom Writers and took a short quiz.  We then proceeded to talk about our next novel unit on To Kill a Mockingbird.  Students were put into groups and began researching an assigned topic.  Students will have tomorrow in class to work with group members.  Presentations will be on Wednesday.

DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP~
We began working on our CyberSafety unit.  We had a short introduction to sexting and watched a short movie.  We then discussed the implications of sexting and some of the consequences.  Students were also assigned chapter 9 in Little Brother.

We started our Copyright presentations today.  Anyone who is gone will need to get the notes from a friend and will need to show me their completed keynote presentation.
